KCED

One of KCED’s five strategic pillars is Quality Childcare, recognizing its vital role in workforce development and community sustainability. Three years ago, KCED partnered with First Children’s Finance to conduct a comprehensive market study on childcare needs in Keokuk County. The results were clear: Keokuk County was identified as a “childcare desert,” with a severe shortage of accessible, high-quality childcare options.

In response, KCED helped launch the Keokuk County Childcare Network (KCCN)—a grassroots initiative led by a board of passionate, dedicated individuals committed to solving the childcare crisis. Together, KCED and KCCN are working to expand childcare capacity, support providers, and ensure families across Keokuk County have access to the care they need.

KCCEF

The Keokuk County Childcare Network (KCCN) is proud to partner with the Keokuk County Community Endowment Foundation (KCCEF) to strengthen childcare access and sustainability across the county. Through this collaboration, KCCN benefits from KCCEF’s charitable giving infrastructure, allowing donors to support childcare initiatives through a wide range of contributions—including cash, stocks, farmland, retirement plans, and more.

As KCCEF Community Director Connie McLaughlin shares, “There are several advantages for the KCCN, including the ways that you can donate and fulfill your charitable giving goals.” This partnership empowers community members to invest in the future of Keokuk County families. Quoting Helen Keller, Connie reminds us: “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.”

Keota Community School District

The Keokuk County Childcare Network (KCCN) is honored to collaborate with the Keota Community School District to support the development of quality childcare solutions in the region. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to strengthening families, supporting working parents, and investing in the future of Keokuk County’s children.

By working together, KCCN and the Keota Community School District are exploring innovative ways to align educational resources, facilities, and community support to expand childcare access and improve early childhood outcomes. This collaboration is a vital step toward building a stronger, more resilient community.
